The Los Osos Community Services District does its part
to prevent storm water pollution by cleaning up within District boundaries.

We use a vacuum truck to pick up debris and trash along the side of the road.

Items like cigarette butts, gum wrappers, candy wrappers, newspapers, toilet paper, receipts, and grocery bags are commonly picked up.  During the rainy season, these items are easily swept up into the floodwaters and carried to the bay.

We invite the public to take part in keeping their neighborhoods clean by taking proactive measures to pick up trash in yards and driveways.

Here are 10 things you can do to prevent storm water runoff pollution.

Use fertilizers sparingly and sweep up driveways, sidewalks, and roads.

Never dump anything down storm drains.

Vegetate bare spots in your yard.

Compost your yard waste.

Avoid pesticides; learn about Integrated Pest Management (IPM).

Direct downspouts away from paved surfaces.

Take your car to the car wash instead of washing it in the driveway.

Check your car for leaks and recycle motor oil.

Pick up after your pet.

Have your septic tank pumped and system inspected regularly.
